MarinaTex wins Disruptors

A huge congratulations to Lucy Hughes for winning Disruptors with her sustainable material innovation MarinaTex.

An embodiment of disruptive and circular design, MarinaTex is a home compostable alternative to single-use plastic made from the abundant waste stream created by the fishing industry and organic seaweed binders. The material was also awarded the International James Dyson Award.

We look forward to working with Lucy for six months as she makes use of the prize of six months of desk space and business and product development mentorship at Plus X Brighton.

Disruptors-finalists

Congratulations to the Disruptors Finalists

A huge congratulations to each of the four shortlisted disruptive entrepreneurs. The finalists all had their own solution to tackling plastic waste, each one entirely unique to the other.

It was a tough decision and prize packages were created for every finalist. Hollie and Ella from Soaked will get two months of desk space and a deep dive session in business development at Plus X Brighton. All finalists, including Gomi Design and ReManuFactory will get a fully funded intern from Santander Universities and features in both Startups Magazine and Women of Wearables.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this an impactful and memorable evening.
